We’re back at The Magarigawa Club in Japan, and this time it’s in front of a Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport. But not just any Rennsport. This is the same car that, just six short months ago, I shot in both Germany for its delivery and Spain for its first on-track outing.

There’s only one thing I love more than a completely over-the-top, balls-to-the-wall race car, and that’s one that actually gets used for its intended purpose. So when RennCurator reached out to let me know he would not only be sending the car to Japan, but also bringing it to The Magarigawa Club for some track time, I knew I had to make my way over.

I’m sure everyone reading this is at least somewhat familiar with Magarigawa by now. If you’re not, I’ll let you catch up to speed on the mountain-top circuit via this video. But for those who are, you’ll know that, ironically, much of my time at the circuit is more about capturing its aesthetic qualities and less about mulling over track times and numbers.

I did, however, put together a short video on our time with the Rennsport at Magarigawa, and for the sound this car makes alone, it’s worth a watch.

The last time I shot this GT3 R was also poolside, however, about 40°C (104°F) and 10,000km apart. This was at The Ascari Club in southern Spain, which has a similar concept to The Magarigawa Club, and remains one of my favorite places in the world. My goal at both venues was the same: placing the car in as many picturesque settings as possible, ideally during golden hour.

We even had the chance to park the Rennsport alongside a Porsche at the other end of the insanity spectrum: The Singer DLS. One for the street and one for the track, there are definitely worse two-car solutions.

We may be a few months late to the festivities, but ‘twas the season during our visit, and, unfortunately, this might be the last time I see a Rennsport waiting for me under the Christmas tree.

This isn’t the end of my coverage with this Rennsport, though. Keep your eyes peeled for a European return sometime this summer, as RennCurator continues to rack up frequent flyer miles on his GT3 R.
