You might notice a theme over the next few weeks, with show season in Europe having kicked off and Alen heading to Japan to support Alec and Dino for a little while. We’re all being blown away by the quality we’re seeing in terms of cars and organisation of late.

While Ultrace has raised the bar for events in the part of the world I call home – and you can expect content imminently – Alen was too excited to contain his initial thoughts on his first Wekfest Japan event. He insisted on jumping the queue, so without further ado…

– Mario.

I think I might have ruined car shows for myself.

I don’t make that statement lightly. Driving five hours from Tokyo to Nagoya with Alec and Dino for an event featuring some of Japan’s top-tier stance builds has certainly raised the bar.

Watching the cars roll into the annual Wekfest Japan venue has easily been the highlight of my Japan trip so far.

The wild part is, I’ve barely even started. I’m here for five weeks, and it already feels like I’ve peaked – which isn’t a bad problem to have. I have got a few shoots lined up, but starting with Wekfest was the best way to go.

The venue itself holds well over a few hundred cars, and by the time we left, the halls weren’t even half full. Yet, it already felt like I’d seen the best Japan has to offer.

It made me a bit hesitant to get back to our Airbnb, but our ride was ready and waiting. That just made me a lot more excited for what was to come.

The highlight of the entire experience was seeing vehicles I’ve followed on social media for years in person.

An example is Seiji Ookawara’s insane Nissan Silvia S14. Having seen several of its previous iterations, his latest version is undoubtedly the most incredible to date.

But it’s not the only car I’ve spent years admiring from afar, only to be blown away by in person, and I can’t wait to show you the rest. So, I’m sorry to barge in like this (I’m looking at you, Larry and Mario), but I just had to get a sneaky little preview up.

We’ll be dropping a couple of features from Wekfest Japan 2026 over the coming week or so, but in the meantime, enjoy the setup day gallery.
