One day, a video of an immaculate 991.1 Porsche 911 GT3 popped up on my TikTok feed. It was a car to behold, and I was ecstatic to see that the owner, Mark, had been a long-time follower of my car photography account.
I immediately hit him up a day or two before I wanted to shoot his car. I had just bought a Sony A6700 I was super excited to break in, and what a car to do that with. It was sunrise at an area around 30 minutes North of Dallas. Traffic was near zero; the perfect morning.
Growing up, Mark had a huge affinity for Hondas – a given, considering his dad and his uncle were mechanics for the Japanese brand for most of their lives. The catalogue of Hondas he has owned includes an FA5 Accord, EG Civic hatchback, AP1 S2000, FK8 Civic and an FL5 Civic Type R. Mark’s first real car build was an FA5 that made it into Honda Tuning magazine. He says that it’s a love that never leaves, one which I think is quite beautiful – but that’s enough Honda talk.
When the first-ever Porsche 911 GT3 was released in 1999, Mark was hooked. The fact that Porsche made the quintessential “street-legal race car” was something that never left his mind. The aesthetic of such a car, paired with the sound its flat-six engine made, stuck with him from that moment onward.
Years later, when the time was right, Mark had the patience to hunt down the exact 911 he was after, fulfilling his dream. Hearing people tell their backstories about the cars they have is something special.
I can picture the events they describe in my head, and those images give me goosebumps. Emotion is what really sells a story for me, and when their heart is in it, there’s no stopping someone’s ambition.
On the exterior of this GT3 are some nice mods including OEM+ touches. Under the arches, you will find an extremely rare and expensive set of centerlock BBS E89 wheels. Not only are they now discontinued, but they clear the Porsche’s ceramic brake package.
This combination of rarity and practicality makes a set of these E89s about $17,000 – which is bonkers. You’ll find carbon fibre at both ends of the car; a Manthey Racing wing at the back and a 911 GT3 RS Weissach hood at the front.
There are also a pair of carbon fibre mirror caps made by NWCarbonHaus, while the car sings through an Akrapovic Race Line exhaust with link pipes.
The interior is chock full of OEM+ parts. You would certainly have to be in-the-know with Porsches to point them all out, including a 991.2 (facelift) steering wheel, OEM Racing fire extinguishers in yellow, a 718 GT4 RS shift knob and a set of 911 GT3 RS door pulls. I must say they make getting out of the car fun, but if I had this GT3, I would never leave.
On the steering column are a pair of JQ Werks magnetic paddle shifters, and they feel phenomenal to use, adding another layer of greatness to the already splendid driving feel of this GT3.
This is an amazing car, and I cannot wait to see what Mark does next to it. What a machine.

Great to see another DFW photog in here! stunning shots!
