Six hundred cars set the Autodromo “Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari” – Imola to you and me – alight over the weekend of 13th of September, for the ninth edition of the Historic Minardi Day.
Born from the passion of the Minardi family in collaboration with Formula Imola, the event has established itself as one of the most beloved Italian events for motorsport enthusiasts. As per tradition, Historic Minardi Day 2025 is not just a motorsports event, but also a unique opportunity to meet some of motorsports’ greatest protagonists – past and present.
Fans are free to roam the paddock, the pits, and all the grandstands on the circuit. You can witness the mechanics’ work, pit stops and the start-up of these legendary engines – experiencing these rare moments firsthand.
You can meet former drivers, team managers, journalists who have frequented the F1 paddocks over the last forty years and even Giancarlo Minardi himself; organizer of the event and long-time owner of the Minardi Formula 1 team, which competed in the world championship for twenty years.
The lineup of cars present is impressive, with some of the most iconic Formula 1 cars present and correct. The 1970 March 701, 1974 Lotus 72E/5 and 1982 Type 91, 1976 and ‘77 Tyrrell P34/02 and P34/05 were proudly on display, as was the comparative spaceship Ferrari 412 T1 from 1994.
Even the special McLaren replica used in the “SENNA” series, built by the Argentine company Crespi, was driven to the track by Luciano Crespi with the Brazilian champion’s original overalls and helmet – courtesy of Salvatore Apicella’s private collection.
The program doesn’t stop at Formula 1. Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula 3000, and Formula Junior cars also saw track time, while a fascinating area was also dedicated to GTs and historic cars.
A special mention goes to the fantastic Imola Circuit, built using the area between the right bank of the Santerno River – the Acque Minerali Park, and the first hills close to the Imola city centre. It’s completely immersed in nature, where the history of motorsports can be felt in every corner.
