ABOUT US

We’re a global team of established automotive journalists united by a passion for modified and enthusiast cars. From every corner of the car scene, we tell stories that celebrate individuality, performance, and the culture that
brings it all together.

Alec Pender

Founder

Starting in 2018 with a Canon 700D, kit lens and a dream, Alec found his way onto I Am The Speedhunter, covering his first trip to Japan.

Since then, Alec’s photography and videography work has branched across a number of international publications, working with brands, shops and manufacturers globally.

Based in Japan, but typically elsewhere, Alec has a soft spot for the boom era JDM cars, particularly AE86s, but continues to chase automotive history and stories throughout Europe, Asia and America.

Alen Haseta

Founder

Alen began his journey in automotive photography in 2019 and has since steadily built a strong reputation within Sweden’s modified car community. His first major milestone came in 2021, when he was featured as a contributor for the internationally known automotive platform Speedhunters.com.

For fun, Alen specializes in documentary-style storytelling that focuses primarily on uniquely modified car builds across Sweden, capturing both the technical craftsmanship and personal passion behind each project.

A lifelong enthusiast of 90s Japanese sports cars, an interest sparked by watching The Fast and the Furious in 2001, Alen now owns a modified Toyota GT86. Funnily enough, it serves not only as his first car, but also his daily driver and family vehicle.

Dino DC

Founder

Dino has spent over two decades behind the lens as an automotive photojournalist, and lately, he’s been pointing that lens at a new medium: YouTube. Based in Tokyo, Japan, he first made his mark documenting the JDM scene, contributing to over 100 global publications before co-founding Speedhunters with the team at Electronic Arts in 2008.

From consulting automotive manufacturers, game studios, brands and creating automotive documentaries one of the highlights of his life spent around cars was his 3 years working for the hyper-car manufacturer Pagani as their PR and Marketing Manager in APAC region.

He’s been into GT-Rs since before they became everyone’s dream car, likes widened air-cooled 911s with glued-on tow hooks and is quickly becoming quite the fan of G-series M-cars.

Larry Chen

Founder

Larry Chen is the world’s preeminent documenter of car culture, serving as the official photographer for both Formula Drift and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. His work has been in hundreds of print publications and museums globally, and he is the only automotive photographer to hold the title of ‘Canon Explorer of Light’.

In 2022 he was the inaugural winner of the SEMA Automotive Content Creator of the Year award, and in 2025 became the first non-driver inducted into the Formula Drift Hall of Fame.

Completely self-taught, Chen honed his skills shooting grassroots drifting before moving on to professional motorsports and commercial photography. Today he is the host of “Capturing Car Culture” for Hagerty, and his personal YouTube channel with more than 680,000 subscribers. On Instagram he shares daily content with more than 1.1 million followers. Chen lives in Los Angeles with his wife and children.

Mario Christou

Founder

Mario has been freelancing in the modified car editorial world since 2019, when he got his first role contributing to Speedhunters.com. Since then his work has been featured across various web and print magazines across Europe and the United States.

A passion for all things automotive has led to Mario’s day job as a road tester – Carwow’s Senior Reviews Writer – but his spare time is full of motorsport, modified and classic cars.

He’s a big BMW enthusiast, having owned his pride and joy E38 740i Sport for seven years, with a varied assortment of other cars along the way.
