RWB. It’s a name familiar to those in the car scene. Thanks to the lockdowns during COVID (and everyone’s newfound spare time), videos of RWB builds went viral across social media. But those same lockdowns also caused delays for many RWB projects around the world – including those in Malaysia.

Throwback to June 2024: After six years, Nakai-san made his return to Malaysian soil for an epic six-car build in just two weeks. Today, however, we’re talking about the two builds that kicked off this mega RWB spree.

These two builds were something special, as both took shape simultaneously over just four days. Yes, two RWBs completed in four days. Both cars were built under one roof: Kuzig Glanz Detailing – a well-known detailing shop in Malaysia.

It was early in the morning, and peaceful. No audience yet, just the crew from Kuzig Glanz Detailing tidying up the space. Two Porsches sat side by side, surrounded by neatly arranged parts. And of course, who could forget the iconic armchair placed in the center of the space?

At around 10:30 a.m, Nakai-san arrived. Before starting work, he unpacked his tools from his silver Rimowa suitcase and arranged them on the floor. The first tool he picked up? His cigarette, of course, then the air saw.

He began cutting the roof off the Brewster Green 993. Why remove the roof, you may ask? Because the owner planned to install a carbon-fiber item instead. Once the new roof was fitted, Nakai-san moved on to installing the signature RWB widebody flares.

Nakai-san started the day by finishing the carbon roof installation on the 993. He then sprayed the tires with the “idlers” stencil, fitted the wheels, and removed the jack stands. The car now sat low, with that unmistakably aggressive RWB stance.

A custom, gold roll cage was installed next. Then, he moved on to the Macadamia Brown 997 Cabriolet, starting by cutting and modifying the stock front bumper to fit the RWB kit.

Something unique about the 997 kit is that its widebody flares overlap the fuel cover. Nakai-san could’ve taken the easy route and made a new cover, but instead, he modified the existing cover and hinge. Once that was done, he proceeded to cut and install the front flares.

The day began with Nakai-san bolting down the front flares. Next came the rear arches. Midway through the build, Mokhzani Mahathir, the ex–prime minister’s son and a petrolhead himself, dropped by for a quick visit.

Once all the widebody flares were installed, Nakai-san cut and modified the rear bumper to fit the kit. Technicians from CSB Pro then installed the lights for both cars.

Nakai-san continued working into the evening, sealing the flares with black silicone and attaching the rubber strips beneath the front bumpers.

The final day of the back-to-back builds. The Kuzig Glanz Detailing team began by cleaning and polishing both cars, clearing away dust from the cutting process.

Nakai-san picked up his air saw once more, trimming the rear flares of the 997 to make space for the air intake. Then came the finishing touches on both the 993 and 997.

Once both kits were installed, Nakai-san conducted a final inspection of his artwork before installing the RWB window banners. Owners were then called for the iconic ceremony. Banners installed and hands shaken, two new RWBs were born.

A 993 C2 manual, beautifully painted in Brewster Green. It wears the RWB 993 Race Kit (regular wide) and Work M1 wheels with brushed aluminum barrels and gold centers. A custom gold roll cage matches the wheels, while the interior features Cobra seats, a CAE shifter, custom dial faces, yellow stitching and Rennline parts – all finished off with an RWB steering wheel.

It’s essentially an RS-style interior, and this build marks the first first carbon roof 993 in Malaysia, an option from RWB.

The name Hanabi means “phoenix rising. Fittingly, the original kit and parts were destroyed in a fire during the paint process – but the car itself survived, stored elsewhere when the fire broke out.

RWB Malaysia #9 – Kagayaki

A 997 Turbo Cabriolet, painted in Macadamia Brown, fitted with the RWB 997 wide kit. It rides on official RWB Hyperion V2 wheels.

This build marks several firsts:

  • The first updated Turbo rear bumper
  • The first 997 Turbo RWB in Malaysia
  • The first Southeast Asian 997 RWB

The name Kagayaki means “shining bright” – a fitting tribute, as the owner also runs the detailing studio itself.
